Where is God on Monday when Christians go to work? Rick Heeren shows in this masterpiece that God is as close and as available as He is on Sundays; we simply don't realize it. To help Christians discover and apply this revolutionaty truth, God has enabled Rick to write this enlightening and empowering book. Rick shares Biblical principles and personal experiences that can make life during the week as uplifting as it is on Sundays.

For a believer, work is not just a job, it's a true ministry. Rick Heeren explains how. If you are out there in the workplace six days a week, and if you want to see God move powerfully through you, this book could dramatically change your life.

Rick Heeren, in Thank God It’s Monday! writes about the impact of his first trip to Argentina, “It was November, 1992 and there was Buenos Aires below us. … Now, as I pushed the button to recline my seat on the airplane, I popped one of those [worship] tapes in my cassette player and closed my eyes. … The presence of the Lord filled the space around my seat. I became aware that tears were rolling down my cheeks. Then right at the height of this visitation, I heard the Lord’s audible voice saying, ‘I want you to be an ambassador to bring what you have just experienced in Argentina, back to your own country, beginning in your own home town of Minneapolis and St. Paul.’ This was the first time that I can remember that the Lord actually spoke to me in an audible voice. … I remember thinking to myself, ‘We’re taking some of the fire of this revival back to our own hometown.’ ”

At that same time Rick heard the Lord speak the words of Isaiah 61:1, “The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me, because the LORD has anointed me to preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent me to heal the broken hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound.”

Before Rick went to Argentina he had not understood the meaning of the word “anointing.” When he came back from Argentina he understood that he had been anointed by the Holy Spirit while he was there.

Later, when Rick was back in Minnesota, the Lord led him to 1 Samuel 5:1-4. This is where the Philistines captured the Ark of the Covenant and placed it in the Temple of Dagon, next to the demonic statue of their god Dagon. In his book Rick writes, “In these verses, we see the principle of a ‘power encounter.’ By this I mean that when the presence of God is brought into direct confrontation with the presence of the demonic, the power of God always overcomes the power of the demonic. As I reflected upon this situation, the Lord impressed upon me that each of us, as Christians, are like mobile Arks of the Covenant. In other words, greater is He that is in us, than he that is in the world (see 1 John 4:4).”

Why is this significant for a minister in the marketplace? Paul said it best in 1 Corinthians 2:4-5, when he said, “And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and power, that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.” As ministers in the marketplace we need to see ourselves as mobile Arks of the Covenant, or carriers of the presence and the power of the Lord. When we interact with people within our sphere of influence, we shouldn’t tell them about Jesus, we should show them Jesus!
