The Influence of The Elk River Story The influence of The Elk River Story was not just for others, it was also for us. We had to adjust our thinking to the vision. Colossians 3:2 says, Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. Even if some of us resisted it at first, we finally experienced a paradigm shift and aligned our thinking with the vision that the Lord had given us. Perhaps the most startling paradigm shift happened when we realized that the Lord was going to perform the extraordinary miracle of bringing transformation to the entire nation through our hands. We can see in Acts 19:11 (RSV), that this is not the first time that the Lord has done extraordinary miracles through the hands of a human being, And God did extraordinary miracles by the hands of Paul. We overcame the idea that we had to run right out and manufacture this transformation of the entire nation. The Lord reminded us that we would succeed because of His Spirit and all would be done by grace alone. Look at Zechariah 4:6-7, 6 Then he said, "This is God's message to Zerubbabel: `Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, says the Lord Almighty--you will succeed because of my Spirit, though you are few and weak.' 7 Therefore no mountain, however high, can stand before Zerubbabel! For it will flatten out before him! And Zerubbabel will finish building this Temple with mighty shouts of thanksgiving for God's mercy, declaring that all was done by grace alone. PRAYER POWER |
