Raleigh, North Carolina (School Impact) Raleigh, North Carolina Another amazing part of the Raleigh story is the leadership that businessman Doug Walton, his wife, Leslie, and their son, Adam have been giving to the youth strategy in Raleigh. Adam is a marketplace minister at Millbrook High School. The first time that I visited Millbrook I was with Adam and his dad. As soon as we entered through the front door I asked Adam to open the door once again and invite the Lord into the school in accordance with Revelation 3:20, "Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me. Adam said, "Lord, I hear you knocking at the door of Millbrook High School. And as a member of the student body of that school, I have spiritual authority to say that I hear your voice and I open the door and invite you to come in and fellowship with us. Thank you, Lord Jesus for coming into our school." Later, that same summer, we saw evidence that the Lord had responded to Adam's prayer. I participated in a meeting in the cafeteria of Adam's school where a list of the entire student body was divided into groups of ten students. Each group of ten names was placed on a 3 x 5 card, along with the name of the school principal. These cards were then adopted by about 150 people who had gathered in the school cafeteria. This strategy is in obedience to 1 Timothy 2:1-2 which says, 1 Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, 2 for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. After each person took a 3 x 5 card and made a commitment to pray for each person listed on the card, the entire group prayer walked the school campus. Two years later Adam has given me numerous testimonies about how he has seen the spiritual climate change in the school. |
