Visit to Christ The Only Hope Prison
August 17, 2007

Doug Walton, a businessman from Raleigh, organized a group of 18 people from North Carolina to participate in the Harvest Evangelism Overseas Training Mission (OTM) which was held from June 28 to July 10, 2007. Most of the group was under 25 years of age. 6 were under 20 years of age. 9 members of the team were from Raleigh, 4 were from Clayton and 5 were from Durham.

This prison in La Plata, Argentina, is one of over 40 prisons in the province of Buenos Aires where a church is operating in the midst of the prison.  This is not a ministry from the outside into the prison-these churches are inside the prison and have pastors and elders. The inmates study the Bible, worship and pray, all day long. This particular prison is unique in that the warden, the guards and 100 % of the inmates are Christians.

At the beginning of the visit to this prison, the OTM delegates sat in seats in the prison court yard and the inmate worship leader and his worship team led them in worship. During that time of worship, Doug Walton's son, Adam, and a few other North Carolina delegates took the stage and led the combined audience of inmates and OTM delegates in worship. At the conclusion of the worship time, the inmate worship leader introduced himself to Adam. Adam had brought his guitar to the prison and asked the worship leader if he would like to play it. The worship leader accepted the offer and began playing Adam's guitar.

The worship leader and several other inmates joined Adam and others from the North Carolina team in a time of laughing, dancing and singing. The Lord spoke to Adam and told him to give his guitar to the inmate worship leader. The worship leader was stunned and wept. He told Adam he had given away his 5 guitars when he went to prison and was praying about how he was going to get another one. The Lord's Spirit began to flow in response to Adam's act of obedience. Inmates starting giving away the goods that they had manufactured to the OTM group.

This Spirit of generosity continued within the OTM team. OTM team members gave cash donations to Adam and Doug so that Adam could purchase a new guitar. The amount that was given to Adam was more than he had paid for the guitar that he had given away!

PRAYER POWER
Dear Heavenly Father, in the same manner that has been experienced in Argentina, we ask you to transform prisons and jails all over the world.  We also ask that each person who visited the Christ The Only Hope Prison during this OTM experience would become an agent of transformation for prisons and jails in their home towns. Lord, we also ask that you would release an anointing of generosity within your church. We ask these things in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

Blessings to see God do exceedingly abundantly in your life!
